禁戒

Prohibitions, commandments, especially the Vinaya as containing the laws and regulations of Buddhism.

謂佛說經， 制諸禁戒。 令一切眾生， 攝持身口意業， 清淨不犯， 即能超脫三惡趣苦， 是為禁戒。 （三惡趣者， 餓鬼趣、 畜生趣、 地獄趣也。 ）

禁非戒惡。 佛所制的禁戒有五戒八戒沙彌戒和具足戒等的分別。
